The Complete Million Dollar Quartet Release

BMG Australia has confirmed that "The Complete Million Dollar Quartet", featuring Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins, will also be released "downunder" around September 19, 2006. This version will be the complete tape and with audio restoration by Kevan Budd (who did the audio restoration work on the releases as "Elvis At Sun", "Elvis Presley" and "Loving You"). The session will be presented in the correct order and will feature material never before released.

Meine nur On The Road to Jerichow nicht im Zusammenhang mit dem MDQ zu kennen.
Im übrigen: wo ist in der Setlist I Hear A Sweet Voice Calling (Track 15 der damaligen RCA CD)?

Kevan Budd's FTD remaster of the MDQ -- in proper chronological order for the first time -- likely utilizes the same improved source heard on the MDQ snippet from 2002's Today, Tomorrow & Forever box. Give that a listen and appreciate the difference.

After Kevan Budd completed remastering of the MDQ tapes -- and this was a long while ago -- it was designated an FTD project. I didn't have to "read and learn" -- I got my information from the source, as per usual.

naja, solange die Gerüchte nicht verstummen, daß es davon angeblich auch material gibt, auf dem Cash zu hören ist (sein soll)..
(welches aber von Columbia -die das ja eigentlich nix angeht, weils eben noch zu Sun-zeiten passiert ist - angeblich zurückgehalten wird)

Ich finde das Zeug ist schrecklich....

Du sprichst eine nicht unkomplizierte Angelegenheit gelassen aus.

Mal ganz ehrlich: Gibt es hier jemanden, der sich diese CD jemals komplett angehört hat? Also, ich nicht. In 16 Jahren nicht. Okay, es steht "Sun" drauf, das hat man ja gewissermaßen schon gut zu finden. Und irgendwie kehrt Elvis nach seinem ersten und erfolgreichsten Jahr zurück nach Memphis zu seinen Ursprüngen, und drei andere Legenden sind auch noch dabei und es sind die 50er und es ist Rock'n'Roll und Advent ist auch noch.

Trotzdem konnte ich mir das nie anhören. Brown Eyed Handsome Man fand ich irgendwie immer ganz amüsant, Too Much Monkey Business (soweit man die drei Sekunden so nennen darf) enttäuschend, Don't Be Cruel zwar cool, aber nicht so gut wie das Original. Also habe ich das Teil relativ schnell beiseite gelegt, zumal auch die Namen Johnny Cash und Carl Perkins jetzt nicht unbedingt für Begeisterungsstürme bei mir sorgten und sorgen.

Jetzt kommt das Ganze also neu raus (hmm, mal überlegen - könnte es etwas mit dem Copyright zu tun haben?), aber ob eine vermeintlich bessere Quelle und die richtige Reihenfolge nun dafür sorgen werden, dass ich da ein Ereignis von unbekannter und nicht vermuteter Größe entdecke? Ich bin zumindest mal gespannt ...
