Elvis - Full Of Rhythm And Blues
Elvis - Full Of Rhythm And Blues
![]() NEW SILVER PRESSED CD Elvis was influenced by the blues as a music genre. Big Mama Thornton, Arthur ‘Big Boy’ Crudup, The Prisonaires, Lowell Fulson, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Little Richard, Fats Domino and many others were all admired by Elvis who recorded many of their songs while traces of their music, delivery and style are evident in many of his other recordings. In Memphis Elvis listened to Dewey Phillip’s ‘Red, White and Blue’ show on WHBQ. Phillips (like his Sun Studios counterpart with the same name) offered a show which pushed at the boundaries and allowed teenagers (both black and white) to ‘get down and dirty’. For white youth this was the avenue they needed to escape the mainstream conservatism of the music revered by their parents. One of the finest white blues singers the world has ever known, Joe Cocker, went on record as saying that Elvis was the greatest white blues singer in the world. Elvis’s blues legacy has never been fully examined and is generally little appreciated. Given Joe Cocker’s statement that Elvis was the greatest white blues singer in the world this is a travesty, and another example of how the music establishment generally refuses to take Elvis’s musical career, post 1958, seriously. But BROOKVILLE RECORDS is proud to annouce ''FULL OF RHYTHM AND BLUES'' , a superb collection of one of Elvis' finest rhythm and blues recordings. All areas are selected: the early 50s, the swingin' 60s and the glittering 70s. Elvis recorded blues in every stage of his career, with full passion. It's strange that, despite 2 albums that were officaily released in the 1980s ( 'Reconsider Baby' and 'Blues') there are not many Elvis Blues albums in the collection of the devoted Elvis fan. '' Full Of Rhythm And Blues'' is a fantastic 25 track album. Elvis didn't merely cover blues songs, he made them is own. - 25 TRACKS - MANY RARE RECORDINGS - 4 UNRELEASED TRACKS - HOUSED IN A STUNNING 3 PANEL DIGIPACK - SILVER PRESSED CD - LIMITED EDITION OF 500 COPIES- That's All Right - Live, October 16, 1954 So Glad You're Mine - master Lawdy, Miss Clawdy - take 5 Baby, Let's Play House - Live, February 4, 1956 Don't Leave Me Now - take 13 Ain't That Loving You Baby - take 1 A Mess of Blues - take 3 Like A Baby - spliced take * Give Me the Right - take 2 I Feel So Bad - take 1 Beach Boy Blues - take 3 Little Sister - take 6 Tomorrow Night - 1965 overdub (correct speed) Hard Luck - master Down in the Alley - take 1 City By Night - take 10 Big Boss Man - take 2 When it Rains It Really Pours - rehearsal, June 24, 1968 (edit) * Tiger Man - Rehearsal, June 25, 1968 (edit) * One Night - Live, February 23, 1970 (Elvis on Electric Guitar) Stranger in My Own Home Town - Rehearsal, July 24, 1970 My Baby left Me -rehearsal july 29, 1970 (edit) * Steamroller Blues - Live, January 12, 1973 (alternate mix) Good Time Charlie's Got the Blues - take 6 Reconsider Baby - Live, February 21, 1977 * unreleased in this form Source; EpGold
