    Wem gehört jetzt Graceland?

Hab hier was gefunden.

    Who Owns Graceland?
History: After Elvis' death, Graceland was valued at US$350,000. Because of an annual upkeep bill estimated at $500,000, the mansion was opened to tourists by Priscilla Presley on June 7, 1982.

An 85 percent share of the Elvis Presley Estate was sold to Robert Sillerman for $100 million.

Sillerman, the founder of SFX Broadcasting and SFX Entertainment, has agreed to pay for the purchase with $53 million in cash, take on $25 million of Elvis Presley Enterprises debt and cover the remainder of the cost in shares - by debt consolidation?
Elvis Presley Enterprises has the ability to produce an average revenue of around $40 million a year and with Sillerman gaining the rights to his photographs, name, likeness, revenue from his music and films and of course the profits from running Graceland, he has probably got himself a very good deal! (left - Robert Sillerman & wife Laura)
Elvis Presley's daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, will retain the title to Graceland and many of her father's personal effects.
Presley, who was born on the 8th January 1935, died at his "Graceland" home on the 16th August 1977. The news shocked his fans all over the world and many found it difficult to accept that the undisputed "King of Rock and Roll" had really gone.
Elvis made 33 films and sold more than one billion records worldwide and even though he has been dead for more than 27 years, his music remains very popular and more than 600,000 still visit his Graceland home every year.

But why sell an estate that brings in $45 million a year for $100 million? Lisa Marie has $25 million in debts (of which she will be absolved under this deal) but on the face of it, the sale doesn't seem like a bright move? The answer. Simple! Lisa Marie gets $20 million in shares and mother, Priscilla Presley get 3 million in cash plus of the new company formed to run the estate
Though some fans on Elvis Web sites have expressed outrage over the estate's sale,
Lisa Marie insists that her father would be pleased.

"Would he have wanted me to do the best thing for the future, for expanding the estate, for protecting his family?" Lisa Marie Presley asks.... "The answer would have been - Hell, yes."

Lisa Marie Explains Sale the of Graceland
Who is looking after the homestead?
Certainly not the keepers of the Elvis Presley legacy.

Below is a copy of the legal contract of sale & lease details regard the Elvis Presley estate/copyright and sale of the Graceland and the Graceland mansion

The Graceland Lease - We have entered into a 90-year lease with The Promenade Trust for the Graceland mansion, under which we have the exclusive right to conduct all business operations of and at Graceland, including receipt of all revenue generated in connection with such operations.
We prepaid approximately $3.0 million of rent at closing of the acquisition of the Presley business, and will make monthly payments of $1.00 per month during the term of the lease.
Under the terms of the lease, we are responsible for all costs and expenses arising from or related to the operation of Graceland. We have also acquired all worldwide rights, title and interest in and to the name "Graceland," which name may be used at additional themed locations as well as in Memphis, Tennessee.
We have also entered into a license arrangement for the use of all personal items which were owned by Elvis Presley at the time of his death and which are currently owned by The Promenade Trust.
Under the terms of the license, subject to certain limitations, we have the right to use such items, including the right to move and display such items, in furtherance of the Presley business.
Priscilla Presley Transaction-In connection with the acquisition of the Presley business, we entered into an agreement with Priscilla Presley, pursuant to which we acquired from Ms. Presley all commercial rights held by her to use the name "Presley" in connection with the use and exploitation of the assets acquired from The Promenade Trust as well as all of Ms. Presley's rights, if any, to the name Graceland.
The purchase price for the rights acquired from Priscilla Presley was $6.5 million, with $3.0 million paid in cash at the closing and $3.5 million paid in the form of an 8 year subordinated promissory note. The promissory note bears interest at a rate of 5.385% per year.

As everyone knows, Graceland was Elvis's beloved home. Since his death, it has become the No. 1 tourist attraction in Memphis and the second-most-visited home in the United States—right behind the White House.

However, the Presleys initially resisted opening Graceland to the public. "It took a long time to decide after he passed away," Priscilla says. "But there weren't really enough finances there to keep it going. We had a staff that was with us for years and years and years, and we had to let everyone go. It was a shock. We had estate taxes coming in, we had government taxes. … Again, it wasn't an overnight decision."

However, rumors have spread recently that the Presley family sold Graceland. Priscilla dismissed them simply, saying, "No, it is not sold."

The confusion, she says, stems from a recent licensing deal. "We were looking for years for a strategic partner to help us grow," Priscilla explains. "We've been open for 25 years now. We're a private company, and we thought, 'Gosh, we'd like to be able to reach those people who can't afford to come to Graceland. We have fans all over the world.' So we found this particular partner who was on the same page as we were and basically took the licensing, and that is really what was taken."

"See, they're two different things," Lisa Marie explains. "There's the Elvis Presley Estate, which [are] the things in the house and all of his stuff, which will never be touched. [We sold] 85 percent of the licensing and marketing—we still own 15 percent. But everything [in Graceland] is still ours. It will never be touched. A lot of that money went back into the forming of a bigger company, which is going to expand it and make it even bigger and make it go places it hasn't been able to go."
