On May 24 Sony U.K. will release a 2 CD compilation called Elvis Presley Sings The Great British Songbook compiled by Todd Slaughter of the British fan club. The compilation features songs that were written by some of Britain's greatest songwriters. This is most certainly not your ordinary run-of-the-mill compilation.

Der Titel der CD ist ziemlich verfehlt. Bei "British Songbook" erwartet man (ähnlich dem "American Songbook") herausragende, bedeutende Kompositionen, die Teil der Musikkultur eines Landes sind. Das ist hier bei den wenigstens Songs der Fall, zumal es sich bei einigen Liedern sogar um nicht-britische Songs handelt, auf die lediglich ein Brite einen englischen Text geschrieben hat.
