    Elvis and bootlegs

    Elvis and bootlegs
Sandy:I don't think I ever even heard the word bootleg until after Elvis' death and I don't recall him ever mentioning them -he was very aware that we taped his Vegas shows because
for one, we told him, and on a few occasions we actually brought our recorder up to the suite and we'd listen to them. They were horrible- you could hear the dishes and the silverware clanging and people talking and somewhere in the background you could hear Elvis singing. It was pretty pathetic. He made it a point to tell us we weren't allowed to do that - then he'd laugh his head off and say "don't get caught or I'll have to bail you out of the iron cage" He sure didn't seem to care about that, or everyone taking photos.

    Ger Rujff erzählt
In 71, while on stage in Vegas a Dutchman ( ofcourse)
handed him a copy of Dutch made ( ofcourse) boot.
Elvis looked at it, and asked what it was. The Dutchman
explained, Elvis looked at it again and threw it, still
puzzled, in the direction of the band behind him.
Not long after ( a year I guess) Parker sent out news
letters to fans and fanclubs worldwide warning them
    for these 'pirate' releases....
My copy is framed and hanging on the wall in my
    office.

Thank you for this interesting story on bootleg. I had no idea Ger did that. Bootlegs was a newbie to me until 5 years ago. phyllis
