    ...evolving medical theories ..
sorry this are no theories but are ALL VERIFIABLE FACTS:

    - Elvis WAS diagnosed twice with an Alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency

source: Bio Science Lab (Van Nuys / Cal.)

    - Lack of this proteine IS an indicator for early emphesema

    - Prescribing Demerol to people who have a history of breathing problems (like Elvis had ...they even had to land the plane...) OR high risk patients with pulmonary disease is NOT recommended, unless monitored closely by their doctor.

Any Doktor der Medizin knows this....

    - Like it or not, but as mentioned before, your suggestion that "breathing problems … when given subcutaneously or intramuscularly sudden respiratory depression rarely occurs … " is simply not correct....what are ypu talking about...breathing problems is one of the most common side effects of Demerol!

again any Doktor der Medizin knows this and this is no rocket science either...unless you've got an on-line degree

and / or skipped the basics of pulmonary diseases ?

I'm tellin' you a secret: She's a real Doctor of medicine, no "If I just read 100 medical books I'm as good as a real one" - although no offense given - but if you wanna beat her own her own turf, well hopefully you're preparered for a longstanding clash...

wow … keep your cool ... do you think with this inappropriate offensiveness you're displaying some sort of supremacy?
it pretty much confirms the opposite, you know

I didn't want to interfer here anymore, but since you're "begging" me ... obviously you didn't get most of what I was
trying to point out … though stuffing your postings with medical details, you're being somehow inflexible in your arguing ...
as a non professional you must be investing a lot of time in the „research“ for these postings and you seem
to know a lot about Elvis medical history … summa summarum your performance is not that bad at all ... just a few minor mistakes here
(you misspelled meperidine in your first posting, confused atropine with antitrypsin in another) and some not really accurate conclusions there ...

I'll give up on explaining the essential pharmacokinetics and their significance concerning the occurance of relevant side effects …
but, you can go on forever stating differently, the most common side effect of opioids in medical use still are nausea, dizziness,
euphoria, anaphylactoid reactions, obstipation and orthostatic hypotension … the most fatal and feared, practically mainly concerning
intraveneous application or special cases of inadequate (accumulating) doses otherwise, are respiratory depression and worst of all cardiac arrest …
and that's not only verifiable facts out of the internet or some books but evidence based medicine

finally … time for some positive reinforcement ... you're absolutely right about severe pulmonary emphysema being a contraindication
                for opioids ... well done

                Off-Topic:

and last but not least ... trust me because I'm also being very polite to you so far … you really don't want me to pick you to pieces

No problem - since you suggest you know a lot about this deficiency, I DO invite you to share your comments IF you have something interesting to say about this subject related to Elvis and the lack of this protein (A1AT)......can you do that ...?

Found this interesting comment by George Nichopoulos:

During one hospitalization some doctor mailed Elvis some drugs to 'get well'.

Once a doctor came to visit him and gave him some medications without informing me.
He said they were all placebos; not to worry, there was nothing in those pills. The bottle
was sealed like from the factory. They were the real thing.

                    Pretty sad...
