Hier ein review vom FECC:

First 20 pages feature mostly color photographs of Elvis from the International Hotel wearing the blue outfit seen in the cover photo of the recent "The On Stage Season" FTD. Also included is one black and white photo from this engagement, the text by JAT and Ciscoking, reproductions of reviews of this engagement from both Billboard and Variety, and a reproduction of an article from "The Houston Post" regarding Elvis opening the Houston Livestock show. This is followed by 2 photos of Elvis from the 1968 "If I Can Dream" sequence. These 2 images I believe were used by the Houston Livestock in 1970 for the scoreboard display and things of that nature. This is followed by another article from the "Houston Chronicle" with the headline "Elvis Is Back! Due at Rodeo Friday." This article features a small picture of Elvis getting off the plane in Houston. This is followed by four pages of color screen grab images of the Houston Press Conference, as there are no known color photographs of this press conference. On one of the pages you actually see the pin that Elvis was presented at this press conference. This is followed by one black and white photo of Elvis at this press conference.

The next page features two smaller color photos of the Houston Astrodome from the outside in 1970.

Beginning on page 30, there's roughly 23 pages of photos from the first show followed by a review from the "Houston Chronicle."

These photos are a mixture of both color and black and white. Some really nice color shots of Elvis standing with the electric guitar.

Also some nice shots that capture just how huge the Astrodome was. You also see images of the scoreboard in the background which relate to what I was saying earlier about the use of the 2 "If I Can Dream" photos.

This is followed by a number of photos of Elvis from the second show riding around on the Jeep as well as on stage. I'd say roughly 40 pages worth. This are a mixture of color and b&w photos. In the photos from this show, Elvis can be seen wearing the green belt / sash. There's one photo of Elvis introducing drummer Bob Lanning, where Lanning is standing.

Beginning on page 96, there is a series of shots from the 3rd show beginning with two shots of Elvis arriving at the dome with security, followed by one of Elvis riding in the Jeep and another of Elvis arriving. This is followed by one again of Elvis riding in the Jeep.

So far, that's up to the first 100 pages. What follows for the next 31 pages are photographs of Elvis at the second press conference. The very first one is of Elvis is standing between two individuals while wearing a cowboy hat. This is followed by two articles from "The Houston Post". The next several pages consist of Elvis being presented the Harris County Deputy Sheriff's badge while wearing the cowboy hat. Then follows a picture of Elvis without his hat on, though he is holding it in the air and looking at the underside of it. Then comes a photo of Elvis seated at the press conference smiling and answering questions. This is followed by a series of photos of Elvis meeting and greeting individual members of the press corps. The book then presents a series of photos of Elvis and Colonel Parker being presented plaques for setting an attendance breaking record at the Astrodome.

Then follows one image of Elvis being presented a document (I believe this to be the Elvis Presley Day proclamation). In this photo you can see the gold records in the background. This is followed by four more photos of Elvis being presented the gold records.

The next four pages consist of Elvis, Colonel Parker and various members of the Houston Livestock & Rodeo Show taking group photos and individual photos.

Beginning on page 132, you see a number of photos from Elvis' March, 1974 return appearance at the Houston Livestock & Rodeo Show. The first four pages consist of Elvis riding in the Jeep along with a picture of the pin Elvis received in 1974. This is followed by a series of photos of Elvis on stage in 1974 at the Astrodome. In a few of these images, you can clearly see the baffle setup Ron Tutt used. In another image, you clearly see the silhouette of Colonel Parker riding a donkey in front of the stage while Elvis points at him. This is followed by one photo from the evening show.

The book closes with a photo of Elvis from the Forum in Los Angeles (same photo as used on the "I Got Lucky" album cover). This is followed by two more photos from the second Houston press conference.

A total of 144 pages.

The DVD consists of a main menu screen with one of the color photos of Elvis with the electric guitar on stage at the Astrodome. The audio that plays during this menu is the audio of Elvis announcing his crew during the February 23, 1970 Closing Show at the International Hotel and mentioning that he'd be appearing at the Astrodome in a couple of days. The DVD features the complete first Houston Press Conference footage as well as three bonus clips. These clips are of Elvis presenting checks to local Memphis charities in December, 1963, Elvis arriving in Hawaii in March, 1961 for the USS Arizona benefit show and the filming of "Blue Hawaii" and the April, 1962 arrival in Hawaii for the filming of "Girls!, Girls!, Girls!"

Sag mal meinst du das ernst, oder tust du so weil dein Name genannt wird im Buch?
Ich hab mir das Buch heute angeschaut und bin jetzt depressiv und enttäuscht ohne Ende....so ein mieses Werk zu so einem geilen Thema
Leider.... das Buch ist nicht mehr als ein Witz.
Das ist die erste und größte Enttäuschung in diesem Jahr 2014.
Für 15 Euro würde ich sagen...gut ist ok, sind ja auch einige Spitzenbilder drin, da schluckt man die paar Kröten ohne lange drüber zu reden.
Aber für die Summen die für das Buch verlangt werden (mag gar nicht dran denken wie es den Leuten geht dir sich das Buch für über 100 Dollar bei Tunzi bestellt haben) ist das geradezu eine bodenlose Frechheit.
Und die DVD liegt einfach so lose dabei, auch so konnte man noch einen Euro einsparen.
Man erfährt total Null zum ganzen Houston-Spektakel, ausser den hundertfach bekannten Fakten und Zahlen, dem Text sind im Buch eine ganze einzlene Seite gewidmet (+ zwei kopierte Zeitungsbrichte).....unglaublich
Sonst gibts nur mehr die Tracklisten der Shows was Text angeht.

Wie Cisco oben schreibt "am Ende wird auf die 74er Shows eingegangen" zeigt sich so dass einfach ein paar Bilder (in schlechterer Qualität glaube ich) aus dem Buch kopiert wurden das wir schonmal zu den 74er Shows hatten. Tunzi übernimmt einfach ein paar Bilder von einem alten Tunzi Buch.
Ich sags ehrlich (und vielen von euch wirds nicht besser gehen), ich war so voller Vorfreude wegen dem Thema und hatte echt mit einigen Highlights gereechnet, und natürlich mit unzähligen Infos und Storys...ein paar Augenzeugenberichte wären geil gewesen, aber die Realität hat wieder zugeschlagen. Tunzi ist lange vorbei und trotzdem dachte ich nie ernsthaft daran mit dem kaufen seiner Bücher aufzuhören.....bald wirds mir aber jetzt doch zu bunt. Was für ein Witz zum Vergleich mit den Büchern die man derzeit in der Elvis-Welt vorgesetzt bekommt.
Von Preis/Leistung rede ich lieber gar nicht. Wenn man daneben das neue Jungle Buch legt und anschaust ist man in einer anderen Welt, einer die dagegen voll abgeht und einen aus einer Depression rausholt.

Wer Tunzi kauft, hat selber Schuld!
