Today we put Bill Black in the spotlight. 43 years ago he passed away at the age of 39. When Elvis started his incredible career in the summer of 54, it was with bassist Bill Black and guitarist Scotty Moore. The trio became known as “The Blue Moon Boys.” Later on D.J. Fontana joined the group. During the early performances of Elvis, many people reacted critical because of the bass player. Bill Black clowned around & rode his bass, rather than playing it, which was very unusual for that time! We have tried to share some of that feeling with you in a new photo collection in the Members Area.
