Although it has been 100 years since
Colonel Parker was born in Holland, the city of Breda - birthplace of the
Colonel, aka Andreas van Kuijk - sees no reason to honor him with "the Tom Parker Street". The official request was discussed this week, and rejected. One of the arguments against a "Tom Parker Street" is that the
Colonel denied or at least tried to hide his Dutch roots for many years, he even changed his original Dutch name. Also,
Colonel may have played an important role in the life of Elvis but he never prided himself with being a citizen of Breda and, consequently, he therefore never contributed to the history of the city.
