the day that really stands out in my mind is the day martin luther king
was shot. elvis was living at 1174 hillcrest av. in beverly hills and
filming live a little. it was april, 1968. elvis came home from filming
a little early that day. maybe 4 p.m.. he drove up to the gate(he was
driving), rolled down his window, and said "they're goin' crazy in my
home town! they shot martin luther king!". he had his radio on and
myself and maybe 4 female fans listened with elvis to the news report.
they announced that king had died. elvis turned to us, with a tear in
his eye and said, "they killed a great man!".
we let elvis drive through the gates and we stood around feeling
really down. elvis was the kind of guy that really was sensitive and
caring.
