In dem Buch Elvis Presley Rockin`across Texas steht :

Soweit ich es übersetzen konnte.

Elvis hat vergessen die Notbremse zu sichern. Dann trat Rauch aus dem Auto. Elvis und Shirley stiegen so schnell wie möglich aus dem Auto aus. Wie ein wahnsinniger hob Elvis die Motorhaube hoch und angeblich streute Elvis dann Sand hinein. Also wenn ich das mal jetzt richtig übersetze. Dann versuchte Elvis nach zu sehen woher das Feuer kam und legte sich unter das Auto. :eek: Shirley ein Mädchen was ihn damals begleitet hat, versuchte Elvis vom Auto wegzubekommen und hatte die Befürchtung das der Benzin -Tank explodieren könnte. Eine Jeanette hat Fotos von dem abgebrannten Auto gemacht. ( Es ist nur ein Bild in dem Buch Rockin`across Texas von dem abgebrannten Cadillac)

Ich habe nur gelesen, dass er es seiner Mutter nicht erzählt hat, damit sie sich nicht sorgt.

Im Auto ist eine Notbremse ?

Gladys recalls, "I had the strangest feeling all that day, and when Bob Neal came to our door, my knees I went right from under me. I said right away, "Something's happened to Elvis.'" "Not to Elvis," said Bob, "but to the car" Bob said. Apparently, the car had caught fire and the handbrake had dragged. A truck driver driving past had noticed and had blown his horn but Elvis paid no attention.

Ich kannte die Geschichte als Albtraum von Gladys und er war mit Red West
unterwegs.Als sie beide mit der Sache von Gladys konfrontiert wurden,meinte Red Elvis und er sahen sich an,als sei sie über deren Grab gestiegen.Komischer Satz,aber sie konnte es nicht wissen,aber es geschah.;-)

Verstehe nicht wie man so unvorsichtig sein kann und wie Elvis unter das Auto krabbelte. Lebensmüde. :eek:

Lese das mal ich habe nachher gesehen das ist 2mal passiert!

After another car indicated the same thing, Elvis realised something was wrong. By that time, the whole rear of the car was ablaze. A bus stop by and all the passengers tired to help but there was nothing anyone could do. Elvis fought the fire until someone pulled him away just before the gas tank blew up. Hitchhiking to the next town Elvis hired a private plane to take him on to his show. That day Lady-Luck was on Elvis' side. As the plane landed a tornado hit the town and tore up most of the other planes at the airport. It was a heartbroken Elvis who returned to Memphis. All he could do for days was walk around repeating, "Man I loved that car." Elvis replacement car became the now famous pink Cadillac that he bought for his mother. When on his first television interview Wink Martindale asked why he had so many cars, Elvis got bashful and stammered, "You might say cars are my hobby."

Nun, es kann auch sein, dass er Gladys gegenüber verschwieg als ein Auto von Fans vollkommen demontiert wurde (vor einem Kino, oder so...) es war ein Nebensatz in dem Riesenwerk von Guralnik, ich habe das nicht so genau in Erinnerung...sorry!
