Dick Grob Short Bio

In 1967, while Elvis was on his honeymoon in Palm Springs, California, he first met Dick Grob. Dick, a Palm Springs Police Officer, was assigned to provide the “Super Star” personal protection. Thus began a friendship that lasted for over ten years. Dick is no stranger to the field of personal protection. He worked with the FBI, CIA and other government agencies such as the U. S. State Department providing protection to very high profile people including U. S. Presidents and Vice Presidents, Marshal Tito of Yugoslavia, England’s Prince Philip and Israel’s Deputy Prime Minister Yigal Ailon to name a few. Palm Springs was the playground of the “Stars,” many of whom Dick provided security and Elvis was no exception. Elvis made Dick “an offer he could not refuse,” and Dick became his personal bodyguard eventually heading up all of Elvis’ security. In this capacity, Dick planned the security for all of Elvis’ concert tours, appearances and vacations to “hard to accept” locations like Vail Colorado and Hawaii. Dick was responsible for the safety not only of Elvis, but for his daughter Lisa Marie and the rest of Elvis’ family. It was through the concert tours that Dick met and became close friends with Col. Tom Parker and his staff. That association grew over the concert years through daily communication between them, to give Elvis security rivaling that provided to any President of the United States. In fact Dick and his security team wrote the book that is still used today in the security field. Today that same friendship exists between the team members who were there when Elvis passed away, after over 30 years, each providing support to the other in any endeavor. In fact, Dick often appears at various Elvis events with different members of the team to share their experiences with Elvis fans regardless of who is responsible for the event. Dick continues today to provide personal protection to extremely high profile dignitaries and individuals, as he did for Elvis, while training a new generation in their special security field. He also does consulting on various projects for other businesses.
